Cesi, with its ongoing PNRR project, has also been included in the Repubblica Guide “Small Villages of Italy: Wonders of an Unknown World,” on newsstands from November 15. The volume is dedicated to the 21 villages nominated by the regions and financed by the Ministry of Culture for the ambitious PNRR project under the Borghi Line A funding program.

The beauty and delights of each village are presented through detailed narratives that wander through streets and alleys, exploring history and stories, legacies of the past, and aspirations for the future. The guide devotes ample space to all must-see destinations, culture, 139 restaurants, 71 culinary spots, and 72 historic residences. It also highlights craftsmanship, the people who value and preserve their local roots, and the opportunities offered by the territory to sports enthusiasts. Adding prestige to the volume are contributions from Reinhold Messner, Franco Arminio, and Elvira Seminara.

“Another goal of the new guide,” explain the editors, “is to strengthen the network between municipalities, creating a tool that allows villages to stay connected, enhance their treasures, and present themselves to an international audience.”

“Investment 2.1 – Attractiveness of Villages is one of the flagship initiatives planned by the Ministry of Culture within the PNRR framework, both because of the significant financial investment—over 1 billion euros—and for the strategic vision behind it,” says Luigi Scaroina, director of “Service I – Implementation of PNRR projects, Mission Unit – Ministry of Culture.”

“We believe in this guide, which, thanks to the sensitivity of the MIC, we can now offer as a tool to introduce, network, appreciate, and love 21 super-villages of Italy—one for each region—that have taken on the challenge of showing that life can begin anew with different rhythms, new energy, better services, and advanced technologies capable of erasing memories of uncertainty, hardship, and abandonment,” says Giuseppe Cerasa, director of the Repubblica Guides. “We are deeply convinced that a significant part of Italy’s future will be played out in the villages, betting on human potential and the wise use of innovations available to mayors and residents, allowing them to look to the future with new eyes and give their lives a sense that may have been lost.”
